Bark Resolution From
This paper discusses the relevance of non-uniform frequency resolution used by current speech analysis methods like Mel frequency analysis and perceptual linear predictive (PLP) analysis. It is shown that linear discriminant analysis of short-time Fourier spectrum of speech yields spectral basis functions which provide comparatively lower resolution to the high frequency region of spectrum. Thi...
متن کاملNon Uniform Rational B Spline (NURBS) Based Non-Linear Analysis of Straight Beams with Mixed Formulations
Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...
متن کاملCloud mask via cumulative discriminant analysis applied to satellite infrared observations: scientific basis and initial evaluation
We introduce a classification method (cumulative discriminant analysis) of the discriminant analysis type to discriminate between cloudy and clear-sky satellite observations in the thermal infrared. The tool is intended for the high-spectral-resolution infrared sounder (IRS) planned for the geostationary METEOSAT (Meteorological Satellite) Third Generation platform and uses IASI (Infrared Atmos...
متن کاملBuckling of Doubly Clamped Nano-Actuators in General form Through Spectral Meshless Radial Point Interpolation (SMRPI)
The present paper is devoted to the development of a kind of spectral meshless radial point interpolation (SMRPI) technique in order to obtain a reliable approximate solution for buckling of nano-actuators subject to different nonlinear forces. To end this aim, a general type of the governing equation for nano-actuators, containing integro-differential terms and nonlinear forces is considered. ...
متن کاملFunctional Discriminant Analysis for Microarray Gene Expression Data via Radial Basis Function Networks
We introduce functional logistic discriminant analysis (FLDA) which is an extension of the classical method of logistic discriminant analysis to data where predictor variables are functions or curves. FLDA approach can effectively classify functions into two distinct classes by imposing smoothness constraint on the predictor functions and coefficient function by radial basis function expansion ...
